Scorpio-Marriage and Divorce

Astrological wisdom holds that Scorpios are most compatible with Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces, and least compatible with Aries, Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius. But what do the actual marriage and divorce statistics say?
Mathematician Gunter Sachs conducted a large-scale study of sun signs and found statistically significant results on a number of measures. Marriage and divorce findings are outlined below.

Scorpio Men

Scorpio men marry Pisces women more often than those of any other sign, and Geminis and other Scorpios least often. They most often divorce Taurus and Gemini women. There was no statistically significant result regarding which sign Scorpio men are least likely to divorce.

The higher divorce rate between Scorpio men and Gemini women is unsurprising. These signs have little in common. Scorpio is deep, brooding, intense and secretive, whereas Gemini is sociable, open, impulsive and chatty. The Gemini will tend to “pick at” the Scorpio, attempting to extract information, while the Scorpio will stubbornly dig his heels in. This can result in an impasse.
Scorpios delve deeply into something that is important to them, while Geminis dabble in many things simultaneously. Scorpios are also rigid about commitments, whereas Geminis are laid back and easy going, prone to forgetfulness, lateness and in some cases not showing up at all. While a Gemini is more inclined to tolerate these behaviors in others, Scorpio takes a dim view of them.
As for the higher-than-average divorce rate between Scorpio men and Taurus women, the problem may stem from the fact that both are stubborn fixed signs and prone to jealousy. There is great potential for clashes here.

Scorpio Women

Scorpio women marry Pisces men most often, and are least inclined to marry Aries and Aquarius men. Scorpio women are least likely to divorce Gemini and Pisces men. As for who they are most likely to divorce, there was no statistically significant result for any sign.

It is unsurprising that Scorpios are less inclined to marry Aries and Aquarius men. The Aries-Scorpio combination can invoke serious power struggles because both signs have a need to be in control, and the Aquarian’s exaggerated need for freedom is at odds with Scorpio possessiveness.
Scorpio men and Gemini women do not seem to have much luck, so why are Scorpio women less inclined to divorce Gemini men? This is a mystery, as there is no indication of common ground between these two signs. But then perhaps the differences keep things exciting in some pairings.

Best Match

The best match for Scorpio is Pisces. Two water signs can establish a deep and powerful intuitive and emotional connection. Both signs are often misunderstood by others, but are inclined to understand one another.
Although on the surface it would seem that two Scorpios should be compatible, there may only be room for one Scorpio in a relationship. Scorpios have a need to be in full control of every situation at all times, and when both people have this need, there are bound to be problems.

Study Findings and Traditional Astrological Predictions

For Scorpio, the findings are mixed. Scorpios do have a tendency to marry and stay with the compatible sign of Pisces, and Scorpio men divorce the incompatible signs of Taurus and Gemini most often. Scorpio women also frequently avoid marrying the traditionally incompatible signs of Aries and Aquarius.
However, contrary to conventional astrological wisdom, Scorpio women are inclined to find long-lasting love with Gemini men, although this doesn’t seem to work the other way around.

Incompatible Matches

Scorpios who find themselves romantically entangled with one of the less compatible signs should not despair. Plenty of marriages between supposedly incompatible signs have lasted.
Astrology is complex, and there is more to take into account than just sun signs. Two people with incompatible sun signs may have highly compatible rising signs (ascendants) or moon signs that can make the difference between a bad match and a good match with a bit of an “edge” that keeps things interesting.
